Anyone going to have eggs hatch in novemeber?

Oh yesterday I candled because I was impatient waiting for dinner to be done. Had to find something to do. figure I hadn't checked the eggs in a few days.
Usually I would go without candling unless my nieces are here. If they were here we'd candle one egg every day to show them how they develop in the egg. I love letting them see the merical of life in a responsible way. Instead of breeding a dog and making unwanted puppies, or a cat creating unwanted kittens I hatch eggs to show them how things are "born" LOL Other then that if i had cows still i'd let them see a calf being born. but i'd rather them see a "food" source being born and how things work that way instead of creating more pets for the shelters to deal with.

and do they eat them when they grow up? My grand daughters couldn't wait to eat rabbit meat and liked it better than chicken!

Just thought I'd show everyone my November hatch: 10 Silkie chicks! Love these babies!!!

My nieces love eating chickens we butcher. I usually butcher the chickens to feed to the dogs. But we've butchered a pet rooster before due to an injury. he was HUGE I got him at a farm supply store as a chick, they were discounted and all chicks tossed in together. So not sure what he was but i think he was a meat bird. He dressed out to 13.3 pounds. Big bird right? My nieces watched him be butchered start to finish, helped pluck him, helped clean him up, season him, one started the oven. Then when done they said he was "the best turkey I've ever had". I still cannot convince them he was a rooster not a turkey.

Other then that one of my nieces will help me process roosters for my dogs to eat. It's great that she can hand raise them and has no issues with them being butchered cause I raised her until she was 7 years old. So now at 9 years old she see's all these things as normal.

Great chicks.
I hope to see more pics of the November peeps.
Here is my last one. They are a week old in this picture and very healthy.
They were shipped eggs and I couldn't be happier.
(wish I had cleaned the water fountain out before taking pic)

Well, I started with 10 eggs. 4 blue/black orps and 6 lavender orps. Today is day 12 and I've taken out all of the lavenders. Only one was fertile but it stopped developing around day 1 or 2. I still have the 4 blue/blacks in the bator. Can't see much now except the air sac. I thought my high powered flash light would be a good candler but I'm thinking I need something better. Hopefully the 4 remaining eggs will make it to hatch day.

Had a 100% hatch on the eggs that made it into lockdown. I was a good girl... and did not help any!!!! I am over the top content watching all these fluffy butts running around.
