Anyone going to have eggs hatch in novemeber?

well tonight I did the last candling before lock down. Tomorrow morning lockdown starts. Well tonight around midnight actually. I'm excited. I had 5 eggs that had baby chicks just dancing around all over the place. a few of the others I am not sure about. Looked like there might be a chick but couldn't see movement. Hoping they are just lazy. Ohwell if only a few chicks hatch i'm not out much, i only paid shipping. And someone left an appoligy at my door with $10 today. "I'm sorry I didn't deliver the eggs right away, I tripped and dropped them" wow almost 3 weeks after delivering them finally he is sorry. So I'll be out $3

I'm saving up on paypal and selling some things so I'll have extra money to get more. Doesn't matter if this hatch is good or not either way I'm getting more. Can never have enough chickens. :D

i guess we'll have to break out the coffee pot and pull up a chair for the next few days. congrats on the eggs.... they do get smarter and smarter on where to lay. look forward to hearing your updates.

Hi everyone! I've been quiet, but every day I come home from work to my hubby hogging the computer

My 5 remaining eggs still all have movement in them and the little ones are huge - Almost filling the entire egg! I'm so egg-cited!! Lockdown starts tomorrow for me and hatch day should be Sunday!!! But with all the temperature rises and drops I've been having during incubation, I won't be surprised if they hatch a little late... But we'll have to see since their development seems right on track.

I adopted 4x day-old chicks on Monday - can I put my new chicks in the same brooder with them when they hatch or is it best to keep them seperate?

Congrats on everyone's hatches

Congratz Esti making it to lockdown with just a lightbulb is quite a feat from my perspective.

If you know the chicks are healthy you can combine such as if you've seen the conditions and flock they have come from and there are no sick animals and such (of course to be safe the answer would be no for a month but...). If yours hatch on Sunday that means you will have seen them for almost a week before combining so if all seems healthy and well I'd risk it (of course that is just me).

I guess I should update too.......

I have been having a fabulous November. All 8 I had in the hatcher hatched, though some as late as Day 26 with some help. They all seem to be healthy. I had a single I hatched about a week ago.

I have had hatches all month. I have 14 in the outside brooder and 10 in the inside brooder. 3 eggs in the hatcher and about 2 dozen that go into lockdown today. I have had great fertility and all but my first hatch in November has been 100%

. though I have had to help a few chicks. But they are all healthy and running around.

I am worried about the 3 in the hatcher because they were supposed to be hatched by my broody, but I had an egg eater litterally break open and eat 2 babies from that clutch. I brought them inside but I don't know their condition. I do have one pipped and one I hear cheaping and 2 that have already hatched leaving one quiet egg hoping she is just running behind. Both that have hatched are from my splash so they are both blue. I have been selling my easter eggers but I might have to keep them.

The flock my adopted chicks are from are all healthy free-range mutts who are multiplying at a phenomenal rate! All under their broody mommies!! So nice to see... So I reckoned their offspring should be just as broody as the moms and I'll be raising them with my home-hatched babies and hopefully have some broodies soon.

We candled last night.. Last time for Prim's eggs. They are officially on "lockdown" under their mommy. All six were healthy and kicking!! Can't wait for Monday!!

Butterscotch's eggs aren't fairing so well I'm afraid... Pretty sure 2 of them are dead. I'm so inexperienced at this, though, that I'm keeping them under her. Last night, there were another 2 that seem to be developing normally, but we didn't see movement, so I'm worried about them. The last 2 had definite movement... Hers are due Wednesday and Friday, so I'll candle again on Sunday, then let nature take it from there...

well out of the 5 I took from my broody to save them from my egg eater, 3 hatched. One never would have hatched it quit around day 7. The other looks like it quit around day 16 never internally pipped and had quite a bit of fluid in there but a formed chick. Breaks my November streak. DH is cleaning the hatchers now for a batch going into lockdown today. Hopefully they will have a good hatch. I didn't have an order this week for hatching eggs but sold every egg I had as eating eggs people getting ready for thanksgiving. I did save out my easter eggers though so I'll be setting them once I clear 1/2 the bator today. I could have sold 2 dozen more thanksgiving eggs. I myself was glad the girls laid good on wednesday so I had some eggs for my own baking. My hubby is glad that I can sell eggs and chicks to help pay for the expensive organic feed we like but he is adamant that with 50 chickens we better not run out of eating eggs for him LOL>

Off to candle and lockdown.

Hope everyone's hatch goes well.

My eggs went on lock down yesterday. Today I got the small brooder ready. I always take them from the incubator to a small nursery brooder (a tote) then when ALL have hatched that are going to I move them to the big brooder (a playpen). Small brooder is ready now with a light in it heating it up. I want it going at least a few hours before hatching starts. One of the eggs that was all wiggly inside yesterday has cracks in it so i expect it to hatch first and early. Once the chick pips the egg shell will fall apart.

Having mixed emotions here at my house. On thanksgiving evening one of my friends died :( But tonight and tomorrow are hatch day. So it is keeping my mind pretty busy and off of the sadness.

Our house has been so chaotic with hubby having a kidney stone blasted and removed on Monday (still in pain too), my 14 month old son getting two ear infections, and myself with bronchitis! But.. the little eggs still need to be watched and placed in lockdown!! Today we placed 4 in lockdown, and hoping for another successful hatch rate! We are very new to this and this is our second hatch... first one we had 4 that went into lockdown and had a 100% hatch. All four are still doing great and looking forward to adding the next 4 to them. We have 25 more in the incubator that will hatch at different times and so far everyone that has been candled looks great!
