Anyone had problems with vaccinating their children?

Her math fails to take into account the simple fact that the reasons the instances are so low is because of the vaccinations.

Instances were very low prior to vaccines due to the general public learning about cleanliness, and how stuff spread.
That is historicla fact.

And to anyone that thinks a non vaxed child is a threat, please rethink your faith in the vaxes you use to protect your child/ren.

On a practical note:

If the dr dismisses the fact your child has reactions to the vaccine, find a new practitioner. I have a severe allergic reaction to... Novicaine. Yep millions of people get it daily with a filling, I have seisures.

Vaccines work on herd ammunity, which means those able to be vaccinated are, which in turn prevents those who are too ill, allergic or otherwise can't recieve the vaccinations. Stop the spread, stop the disease. However, you'll need to sign the waiver for the school (flip the form over when enrolling), and be careful to not expose her to people who have visited countries that don't have widespread vaccinations for the ones you're skipping. Hygene and handwashing will need to be strictly done, to minimize risks of infection.

You also have to be careful not to expose them to sick children if they are not vaccinated. I know children with cancer and some other diseases cannot go around people that have not been vaccinated, matter of life and death for them.
I too have an autistic son, we still vaccinate. We do delayed now, so they don't get more than 2(sometimes only 1 depending on which ones) so their body can work more proficiently than being overwhelmed. My dh has been to many countries (military) and what he saw there with a lot of these diseases we vaccinate for was horrible. He saw so many sick/dying kids that vaccinating was never a question for him. What you also have to take into account are all the refugees coming here, they still have these diseases in their countries and can actually spread any of them real quick in a community with a lot of non vaccinated people.
I agree, it is a personal choice...

All I can say is we have never had any issues - my son who was born with Cerebral Palsy has had all his vaccinations has never had any issues from them - I have had him get the Flu shot yearly as he had issues with RSV when little I however did not get him the swine flu shot as I felt it was not tested enough- there have been issues with vaccines but you have to out weight your risk - only you can decide what's best for your child - some don't like them for the risk for issues like Autism but I wonder if it's better dx then actual disease - but like I said YOU are best to determine what is best for your child NOT anyone else !

Fact:

An outbreak in an area where 98% of the population is vaccinated is an isolated incident.

An outbreak in an area where 50% of the population is vaccinated is an epidemic.

I've done the math. I'll vaccinate.

It amuses me that thus far, the majority of the sites advocating not vaccinating are in fact, relying on herd immunity. Meaning that if their message spreads, they will effectively shoot themselves in the foot.

My sister in law stopped vaccinating her children after her daughter started shaking really bad after an immunization. The dr told her the vaccine can cause brain swelling. But of course they don't tell the parents that, as it would scare them. I turned in a waiver for my son this year to skip the shots he needed for middle school-I think it was MMR and chickenpox. I felt they were unnecessary.

I personally feel that it is a parents choice, once armed with all the information necessary to make a decision. I vaccinated my child. With the exception of the MMR boosters. I would not choose to NOT vaccinate for many reasons. I also feel that this thread is looking for information more than it is seeking personal opinion. Sharing experiences is information. So are some of the web links provided. I want to encourage the OP to KNOW the source of the information she reads before making a final decision.

Not vaccinating children is not an epidemic, nor will it cause a relapse in small pox, etc. Some people choose to go with some vaccinations and not others, as I did. Some completely ignore them, and some choose every vaccination available. It is a parents choice.

I've chosen to vaccinate my children. They have not had any issues with the vaccines. We currently have a herd protection in the US from most serious illnesses, but they do crop up. I've done some research on the effects of most childhood diseases that are currently prevented. The risks of illness are far worse than the risks of the shots, in almost every case. This is simply from a numbers perspective. I don't want to rely on someone else's vaccination schedule to protect my child. This year we had confirmed cases of whooping cough at my child's school.

I would certainly ask your pediatrician about the vaccinations, and a more spread out schedule. I would also recommend ibuprofen or tylenol before the shots are given.
