Anyone hatching 20th or 21st? Hatch with me!!!

My report:

38 eggs total (hand turning in a still air incubator)

Culled 10 at day 15.

Fully incubated 1 of my own BO (first to hatch out), 14 from BuckeyeDave, and 13 Amerucana from DippsyDoodle (28 total)

Pipping started on Monday. Hatched 18 on Tuesday and 3 yesterday. Two more hatched overnight. So I have 23 babies with 2 Buckeye and 3 Amerucana eggs still intact.

I hear this is a pretty great hatch rate for a first timer. I had told myself to be happy with a dozen hatched from shipped eggs.

I think I'll candle tonight. I know I questioned one of those Buckeyes during my culling.

I've got 14 guinea eggs waiting to go in.

I started getting pips late afternoon yesterday. One started to zip then yellow liquid started coming out and it stoped moving.

I think it must have poked a hole in the yolk sack. I kept checking every 2 hrs last night and was rewarded with more pips. Some time between 4 and 6 this morning I had 2 hatch. So far this morning I have had 3 more hatch and have 11 more that are piped!
So total so far is 5 little

I am going to have a long rest of the week and weekend as about the time this bator full is done, the second bator should start hatching!

Now we have five and one half out. Besides the Silver Laced Wyandotte, we now have an Americauna, a blue splash Maran, a splash Silkie, a Mille Fleur D'Uccle and the Appenzeller Spitzhauben is the large pipped egg in the picture......that is if I can get the picture loaded. I uploaded it but how do I attach it?

We've got 8 chicks now.

2 eggs to go. I'm not so confident about them. One of the eggs stopped moving last night and hasn't done anything since. The one EE egg has done anything.

I'm trying the egg carton hatching method this time, so the eggs aren't moving. Right now there are 5 pips. It's sort of like watching popcorn pop in VERY slow motion. (Not that I'm just sitting there watching! They never actually pip while you're looking.)

My hatch is finished I got 11 chicks and 2 turkey chicks. I have one in the bator still struggling I may have to help it but all and all my hatch is finished soon clean it out and set it up again for some more silkie eggs i got.

Well so far all 12 b.r. hatched and only 7 americanas. i never candled the americanas. i was told dont bother b/c you cant see thru the shell so i dont know if the last five are going to hatch. i will give them thru day 24 like i have heard.

i am happy with my success though for it being my first hatch ever. so happy that i have frizzles, polishes, and turkens lined up for the next hatch. should start that in a week or so. glad everone else is doing good with their hatches.

Hatch is final.... 54% hatch rate. I have 19 beautiful babies out of orignally 35 eggs. I had one baby die after it hatched. I had to cull one... insides hanging out. He fought so hard, but I knew he wouldn't make it. Didn't want him suffering any longer. My first to cull.... sad.

I have 11 eggs in the bator which did not hatch, pip or anything. They all appear to be duds. I'm content with my hatch rate though. Sure better than the 37% rate I thought I had.

Congradulations to everyone on their new chicks!
