To Cynthia from a Cynthia...where do you live.

We also got a small thunder storm last night..didn't last long. All I could think of was the warmers that you talked about and how I hadn't had a chance to get any yet!! lol..
Well, the noise passed by quickly, but rained for a while, and woke up to snow on the ground, in Utah. Still--it will get up to 40's today, so it will be gone by afternoon.

No power outage!

I'm in the North Georgia mountains of Fannin County, right at the NC line. I've lived in Utah, twice. First was Layton and Ogden, then the second time we were there, bought a house in Roy.

Hey Cyn, werent those thunderstorms something?! We had some power flickers but it stayed on. All I could think about was my bator and all those little eggies. So far Ive tossed 1 egg out of 20 something. But, the Marans are so dark I cant see in them.

Hahahaaa! I'm becoming obsessed with candling. I do it once each evening and now have the eggs arranged from "most movement" to "not doing as well." I'm also on the verge of getting incubator #3 and wondering if my DH will notice.

Hi, first time hatcher here...filled incubator with 42 eggs..point down..filled middle water trough to full capacity..put thermometer on top of eggs and turned incubator on...l l/2 hrs now and temp is 100 - humidity 60 .. is this too hot or high? I left the thermometer on top of eggs, an acurite from walmart - plastic...will all be ok.. raised 6 children - feel like am about to have 40 more if any make it..just got 18 chicks and wanted to have a bunch at one time to increase my flock... thanks ahead of time for your help...

is your incubator a still air, or a circulated air type

circulated air you want 99.5, still airs are shooting for 101 (correct me if that's off)

you humidity seems a little high

After reading your post, I ran off to candle some of my eggs. I was going to wait until Tuesday...... but nooo. I just grabbed a couple near the door.

Anyway, I found one with a blood ring. I was all worried that if I ever did have a blood ring I wouldn't be able to recognize it, but it's pretty obvious. Even though it is a bad thing for the egg, I was sorta glad to find it so I could experience that.

The funny thing is, that egg always did look wrong inside. That's why I kept looking at it. (of course, maybe I killed it by looking at it too much...)

I cracked it open, but since it is only day 8 it wasn't as gross as I expected. X

I checked another one out that I thought was a dud 3 days ago and it is developing nicely. Another one I apparently thought looked ok is looking like a clear. I am not gonna pull them all out to candle until Tuesday, if even then. I may let them go until lockdown (4/6). I would LOVE to have a good hatch rate and if candling interfears with that, I simply won't candle.

From what I have read and observed on here, some people are way too quick to toss eggs out. Maybe if I ever have an egg explode on me I would worry more, but I think it's unlikely.
