Ok, so school me.....what is the difference between Ameracauna and easter eggers. I am sure my kids would love some colorful eggs, but I have no idea what the difference is.
An Ameraucana has a breed standard set by the APA they only come in certain colors that breed true, they have muffs and a beard, reddish bay eyes, a pea comb and lay blue eggs. They are only available from breeders.
An Easter Egger is not a recognized breed and while they share characteristics with Ameraucanas they don't meet the same standards. They lay blue, green, pink, or brown eggs. They are kinda like mutt Ameraucanas.
Easter Eggers are what you would get from a hatchery.
Personally I like my Easter eggers because I can tell them apart!!
So, anyway, I want to join in the hatch buddy group!!!!
I have two eggs due on the 14th. These eggs are very special to me, because they are from my Easter Egger 'Coocooie' who was killed by a neighborhood dog on Monday (the 23rd). She was my favorite, and I really hope her eggs hatch!!
I have some eggs coming on Friday so my two little ones ( if they hatch
) will have friends. They will be due on December 18th (my anniversary
)!!
Edit to add; This is my first hatch too!
