Anyone hatching Dec 14th? Looking for hatching buddies for 1st hatch!

Well, I had one who arrived on time and all the others were late. So hopefully soon you will hear a little something. It is amazing to me that I can buy the cheapest incubator I could find on ebay (that hatched more than 3 eggs at a time), and have no turner or fan, and no hydometer until lock down and still hatch 7 out of 9. They are so cute and healthy!!! This has been a great experience for me and the girls. We are already trying to decide what to hatch out next!!

I want some more marans, one daughter wants more blue orpingtons, and one wants EEs. Any thoughts?

Happy hatching everyone who is still hatching. I can't wait to see the babies!

Hi,

I just found one of my eggs with a crack in it. I took it out of the bator and cracked it open. It looked just like a regular egg with a yoke. Does that mean it was not fertile?

Hi everyone, sorry I've been so busy I havent' checked in in a while, you know, Christmas, building a coop, hatching, oh my.

CrazyGirlz - your chicks are so cute

loving the brooder on the kitchen table! Awesome, who needs to eat when we can watch chicks anyway right? And thumbs up for a great hubby

don't know what to do for your broody. Is she taking care of herself, eating enough and all?

Imagesoart - yeah, I think if there was no blood or anything in your cracked egg it was probably not fertile. If you can see the white dot on the yolk you might be able to be sure. An unfertilized egg will have just a small white dot, a fertilized egg will have a larger white ring around the dot, kind of like a target. There is a good series of pictures

Still haven't been thru the previous postings, I scanned it briefly and stopped at the pics posting, they're all so adorable! I'm dying to see how mine will start out being a mix of to breeds. B&W like they're daddy or yellow like mommy?Maybe Black/White & Yellow?

Darnit, all the cute adorable chickies - I feel so darn impatient for these eggs to get here now. According to ebay though they shouldn't arrive until /just/ before X-mas(and with a day to rest they'll be set on x-mas eve possibly). Anyone gunna start up again who'll join me?

I think my husband would have a huge fit if I hatch any more right now. I have kept him so busy helping me build the new coop and run. I think he would go crazy if I hatch more chicks. I have to figure out a bigger brooder and he won't let me use the garage. So now I have to come up with something to use in the basement, and keep the cats out of it. Good luck with your new set of eggs though! I will probably hatch again later in Jan or Feb.
