Anyone hatching Dec 14th? Looking for hatching buddies for 1st hatch!

Ok...I have been out all evening so sorry for the delay. I am STILL working on the pics. It has been VERY chaotic around here. We are now up to 7 chicks!!!! The two left are the EM and the SSH. (the SSH is the one that blood dripped out of when he pipped)

I will get pics to you guys soon!!

Jumping in late, but my first chicken egg hatched today!

I'm so excited about these buff orpy eggs!
I've hatched a couple batches of quail eggs before and it's funny how big the chicken chicks are compared to the quail chicks when they hatch! They're like monster size!

I have some pipped and hope that everything goes well during the night. I probably won't sleep very good at all tonight.

Good luck everyone!

Another one just hatched!

Ok....question....my last BO that hatched is dragging pink stuff behind her. One of two of the others had some yellow stuff, but it fell off quickly. She has been dragging this around for about 4 hours. I had to keep her away from the others because a couple of them were picking at it. (eeewwwww!!!!) So she is staying warm in the incubator and the others are in the brooder. Should I be concerned about this or is this something that will dry up and go away?

Posting pics next. Our final count is 7 out of the 9 that went into LD. One was a low pip and the other is the one who pipped in the middle and blood ran down the side. His yolk was gone and everything, he just made a mistake and pipped in the wrong spot I guess. All the others are doing well. I WILL NOT be sleeping by the brooder tonight. All is quiet (for now)

Ok guys....here are a few of the pics. This is the first one born.....Blue Orpington.....and the cuddle buddy we gave him while he waited over 24 hours for his hatch mates. This guy has got to be a rooster. He is huge, and strutting around like he owns the place (probably feels like he does since he had it for so long by himself. He picks on the others all the time and RUNS like a wild man from time to time. (just based on behavior....and i know very little....I think the first BO to hatch is acting like a rooster as well) Oh and this first BLO has the gray/blue legs...the second one to hatch, in addition to being much smaller has "regular" colored feet and kind of splotchy gray/blue legs. Does this mean he might be back/white instead of blue?

Also, I had an unusual hatch today. The first Buff Orp to hatch today surprised us because he pipped all around the bottom of the egg, and actually hatch without drowning!!! Not sure how he did it, but I will post a pic later of the tiny bottom section of egg left in the carton. We never even saw a pip because it was so low.

Well after 21 days of our Blue bantam sitting on the 1 egg, we decided to take a look at it and when we candled it-there was nothing in there.

Opened the egg but the yolk broke apart so unable to see anything. Question now is how to we get Blue to stop being broody?

Hi everyone!
I've been vacant for a few days,(the job thing,

Should start to see some signs Friday night, hopefully.

Meanwhile I need to go back to read and look at all the cute pics!

I just wanted to check in and see how all the babies are doing? My two are eating and drinking well. If I pick one up the one left in the brooder chirps so loudly. It's funny because they run backwards a lot. The kids and I are having a great time with them. Can't wait for my next batch to hatch.

Congrats on all the babies! I still haven't heard a peep out of mine...they were due yesterday. I have another set due tomorrow and they're silent too. I'm starting to feel like my bators cursed!
