Anyone hatching Dec 14th? Looking for hatching buddies for 1st hatch!

Awwwww!!!! What cuties!! Remind me....what kind are they?

They are crosses between:

1) ISA brown hens and EE rooster
2) Leghorn and EE rooster
3) EE hen and EE rooster

I guess that makes them all easter eggers as they carry the blue/green egg gene and should all produce some shade of blue or green egg. My understanding of chicken DNA is rudimentary at best so I could end up with mutts that lay brown eggs too I guess

I live in Michigan and I have these hatching today plus 27 more in the bator due on the 13th/14th so maybe I'M the one who needs to stop looking at threads - particularly in the hatching eggs for sale section.

While candling is really fun to see the development of the chicks, you may have a difficult time seeing anything since your eggs will be so dark. Can you get any lighter colored eggs to incubate along side the Marans? Then you could see some development. Any excuse to buy more eggs
