I recorded this to try and show my love the difference between the ones I'm sure are progressing and the duds I pulled out (down to 7 eggs now) and caught movement on the first one once I got it in focus. I was hoping it was moving as it was the first egg I caught any movement in. Thought for sure I didn't only to just baaarely see I did after watching the recording about three times. XD

But there you have it. My eggies about three days ago.

I 'tried' candling today. lol I got everything from the obvious developments to completely blank. I got several which were sorta thick and murky near the top 1/2 of the egg. Couldn't see any veining though. Guess I'll wait a few days and study some more pictures before I attempt it again.

If you go a couple of pages in on this forum, you will see a thread with candling pic documenting each stage. In a couple of days we will throw out the ones with murky blob or clear eggs not advancing. I think we have 9/14 that are on target.

Thanks Crazy! I did look at a few candling threads. I think maybe my first set is a day behind because their temp wasn't right. The gauge I was using was a few degrees low. I changed it after about 36 hours and got the temp stabilized. I'll check again in a few days. The good news is that my second set went in the day we got the temp figured out. So if the first 13 don't do so well, the next 15 should do better.

I bought a lot more eggs then I wanted chicks....just in case it doesn't work so well the first time. I was trying to be realistic

Yes, my girls FREAKED OUT when they saw the movement. I love it!! Hey, what part of NE Texas are you located?

I am in Leonard. It's sorta between Mckinney and Bonham.

Question for the egg savy.....all of my embryos are sitting right in the middle of the eggs....with one exception. I have one embryo forming relatively close to the smaller end of the egg. I will peek again tonight when I turn the eggs. Is this normal? Does it mean it will try to pip at the wrong end?

Oh, ok. I am in the Rockwall area. Some of the chicks I am hatching will be going to family in Princeton.

my chickens. Out of the 5 eggs my broody was sitting on, well one totally disappeared and one was broke this morning after a major ruckus. And that one was developing.

The remaining 3, one has little hairline cracks.

Moved her inside with her eggs. Candled them and two look like nothing and the cracked one looks like it was viable

I will give her a few more days to see if the eggs develop at all then I will break her broodiness and wait till next time.
