I remember how nervous I was my first hatch to, it's nerve racking!!!

I had one lone little Columbian Wyandotte hatch today but since my Orps are just barely a week old I won't have any problem putting them together once he has fluffed up a little more

I don't want to put them in the LG to start out but at least I have it as a back up!! Can't wait to get my eggs!!!

I am on day 6 in the incubator on my very first attempt :) I cant wait!! I made an attempt to candle some yesterday, so I made a candler contraption. I could see into the brown eggs my red sex links lay that I have in the fridge, but I couldnt see ANYTHING, not even a little light into the egg, with the EE eggs that are in the incubator. Why could this be? Will I need a stronger wattage bulb?

When we were incubating out welsummer eggs, we had to borrow my mother in laws old slide projector to be able to see into them because they are so dark. I would try a stronger watt if I were you. Good luck!!!

Keep us updated!!

I have a peep from my hatch on Dec 6th who has one toe curled under. I think it is a rooster. Anyone know what I could do to fix it?
I thought maybe I should tape it, but not sure what kind of tape to use.

thanks for the reply Bikerchic sorry I have been offline for awhile.
We have 3 roosters from this last hatch on Dec 6th and we aren't quite
sure what we want to do with them...the 4 hens we will keep. But it might
be something I will look into if there is a market for them. We are rural here in NV
and doesn't seem to be a big area for chicken keeping ...but I'll put some feelers out. Thanks
for all your help

Hello. I've been a member for a long time but just now getting back into chickens. I lived up in Washington State but have since moved to Tucson AZ and did not get custody of any of the incubators we had up there. We had several LG's and then moved up to Sportmen cabinets.

I don't remembering us having troubles with the LG's but I'm thinking I want to either go with a Hovorbator or a DIY one. Decisions, decisions..................Sure wish there was a store here that actually sold the Hovor's. All I can find are the LG's.

I've given myself today as a time limit to make my mind up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

i just set 26 eggs yesterday at 2:00 so today is day 1 and this is my first hatch ever i just bought the incubator Saturday and couldn't wait my temp was stable and the humidty is at 35%
