I wasted alot of money when I first started on shipped eggs. There are just so many things that can happen to them before they get to you, and then you feel bad when they don't hatch and blame yourself, trust me I know the feeling. That's why I'm trying to get enough of the breeds I want so I don't have to buy shipped eggs anymore.

I candled my eggs tonight ... It's day 5 and well it's not looking very good for my shipped silkies looks like 3 out of 20 are developing

I might have to give up on shipped eggs after my last order arrives next week. I've spent a bunch of money and have a whopping 7 chicks to show for it. And at lest 3 of the 5 5 week olds are boys.... Not sure about the other 2 yet.

I set more of my silkie x ameruacana mutt eggs and all 6 of those are developing. So at least something will hatch on hatch day.

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW, they are too cute! Where do you live...well, you don't have to tell me where you live. I guess I'm wondering if it's OK to take the outside where it isn't 90 degrees? I let mine in the sunshine of the window when I clean out their brooder, but am a little afraid to take them outside. I live in California and it's about 70 degrees and sunny.......is that OK?

My 2 day old silkies, first trip outside!!!

Well, my Buff Orpington wasn't as broody as I had hoped.

I bought some local Easter Egger fertile eggs for her, but she let them get cold after sitting on them for 5 hours.
The good new is: I get to try my "skill" at incubating again!

(Well, I do get to practice, at least.)

I put the 5 (EE) eggs in the HovaBator just before midnight last night. They should hatch by Saturday, March 31st. Because I plan to add at least a dozen eggs next Friday at midnight for the Easter Hatch-A-Long, I will be doing a staggered hatch. Therefore, I'll have to take these 5 eggs out and hatch them in a Brower (without a viewing window). Maybe this is for the best so I won't be watching them constantly. Hopefully they will all hatch in the wee hours of the morning and be ready for the brooder when I wake up Saturday, March 31.

They are all light blue or light greenish/blue. The color doesn't show up good in the picture:
