Well, 7 eggs went into lockdown, 6 have hatched and one just pipped (he's late to the party). Cross your fingers! #5 actually needed some help, he pipped at the wrong end of the egg and made no progress for 24 hours. So I helped him out of the shell this morning. It was nerve-wracking, I was so terrified I'd hurt him. But he's out and looks healthy, just really tired. He didn't need much help, I just had to get the shell started for him around his pip and then he kicked his way free. Hopefully I did the right thing.

Sounds to me like you did the right thing,

sometimes they just need a little extra push to get outta the shell! Congrats on your new chicks!!!

I setup my incubator on Saturday... Trying to get the temp and humidity right… Well my temp is staying at 100 degrees but my humidity is staying at 40%…. It’s a circulated air incubator and has the water in the bottom it also has an egg turner so no room for a cup of water in it… What do I do??? Is the humidity ok or what do I do to raise it??? Thanks

my humidity has been at 40 % the whole time and I went into lockdown today. I'm trying to raise it now..fun fun..lol

I keep mine at 35% the first 18 days then raise it to 75% when I lockdown so I wouldn't try raising it anymore, wouldn't hurt for it to be a little lower.

oh my..i just locked down today..I know it's day 18 and I have a PIP..actually it looks more like a hole in the egg...lol

Well, he sure is looking good and running around this evening, so I guess he's healthy! And the last egg pipped this morning and hatched just in time for me to get home from work, yay. So the 7 that made it to lockdown all hatched!!! Whee!
