Good Morning!
Silkymom I wanted to thank you for the invite to this thread. You had posted on one of my posts to join. Being a newbie, this one looked a little confusing. lol.. But I've read it all, and have enjoyed it!
It seems like we share a hatch date. I set mine on Oct. 20th. 30 Serama and 16 silkies.
I'm sorry to hear you had disappointing candling the other night.
I know how that goes, I guess we all do... but it's sad none the less. And I know how hubby's can be...
I hope the ones that are showing good are a strong hatch!
I candled last night and cleaned out the bad. And myself was a little sad. Shipped eggs are so hard! I hope to keep one little Serama roo, to get around shipped in the future, but where I live, roo's are a no no! So we are going to try and make him a house pet.
Of my 30 Serama, 13 are left, and 8 are very questionable.
Of my 16 Silkie, 6 are left, and 2 are very questionable.
A few had started to developed, but quit in just a few days. Only a little blood in the egg, the rest had never started.
One Serams we candled last night was just kicking up a storm!! Oh it was so precious! We could see the head and a little leg kick up every so often!
I made hubby look this morning when he got home from work before I got him any coffee!
He made jokes about the bright light making the little guy mad.. Gotta wonder!
He's pretty good about being a part of it... but at times not as much as I'd like... We've raised various birds for years off and on.
My son , 14, is a huge part of all of this and has his own 2 little chickens he's caring for now. Only a few weeks old.
We are currently raising quail and just starting with chickens.
I had to laugh at some of the excuses given here to hubby's for the eggs and such.
Mine has a very expensive hobby, so if he really wanted to nit pic, he'd lose! So he hasn't gone there yet.. $ for $ he spends triple what I do.. he he....
I'm looking forward to the hatches and seeing everyone's beautiful babies!
Wishing you all a good hatch and blessings of many fuzzy butts!
