how do chicks know to drink out of a rabbit water bottle? i have one and was thinking of using it. but i didnt know they could

Well, a rabbit waterer works for rabbits when rabbits push the ball bearing that holds back the water, thereby releasing a drop of water. Push it again with their teeth, and more water comes out. The ball bearing can easily be pushed by a chick, or, if you worry, you can push it yourself for a few days and teach them how to drink. I have my pet silkies all trained to drink from the rabbit waterer as well as the traditional waterer, when they get older.

What i do with my waterer, which is not a rabbit one, its a reular chicken one, but you put marbles in it, this keeps them from drowning in it and the colors of the marbles get there attention so they peck at it and therefore know where there water is. When i tried the rabbit one i was having to show them everyday where it was, this method helped me alot!! Just an idea if anyone wants to try it!

right now im just using a jar lid, but it runs out fast and gets soo dirty. i dnt have a chick waterer but i do have a rabbit one. i think its to big or chicks tho.

Have you tried the chicken nipples? They are awesome and you can use anything for the containers. In the brooder boxes I use Cranberry juice bottles and out in their run and coop I turned a small plastic bucket into one. They are awesome and it literaly took about 5 minutes or less for them to figure out how to use them. I got mine on ebay but I think someone here sells them as well! No poop in their water and everything stays dry! Still no pips
