Hi Silkymom,
Good to see you back!
I'm sorry to hear your eggs didn't hatch.

I hope the next goes better! And that you get that bonus soon!

I just opened up my last 3 eggs. As much as I hate to, I want to know what went wrong.

One baby was lost right after lockdown.. it was very large! and seems it never got it's head up to pip. It's my understanding if the get large, maybe the humidity was too high in the beginning?

One was tiny, 1/4 of what it should be at hatch, so I guess my eyes played tricks on me at lockdown and I had lost it around day 12-15 prob.

My kicker egg really has me puzzled, and I'm wondering if it may have been a twin?
It was kicking at lock down. My DH and DS both saw it! I even marked the egg so we could name it later.
Well, it was fully formed, but I was concerned it didn't fill the egg at lockdown. I mean you could see the legs plain as day! But the weird part is, it still has a yolk sack that is huge! Could it have been a twin and the other is still in the yolk sack? I didn't cut it open yet, but did take a pic.

Thanks, glad to be back!! I was so upset about my silkie eggs I couldn't open them, I know I should have to see if I could tell what went wrong, but I was so frustrated when I got home to nothing, and now I regret it!

I usually get my bonus sometime in November, gosh I can't wait now, if I get it soon enough I could move my spreckled sussex and deleware eggs to it a new bator!!

That is strange about the 1 egg, I don't know much about it, but if you find out the answer let me know, you got me wondering now. Could have been twins, I have seen double yolked eggs plenty of times, I always wondered if you could hatch one though, I wouldn't think there would be enough room?

My eggs still haven't internally pipped. I checked them this morning and could see 2 pushing on the membrane. Several look like late quitters, but I am crossing my fingers. I also cracked a egg in my other bator when turning it, grrrrr. It is developing too. I patched it with elmers glue and hope its ok. I plan on tossing the clears from those on Friday so they won't have to be double stacked anymore!

So I set my eggs last night, and just thought about this, one of my silkies started laying last week, I know they are fertile, I am thinking about putting one in the bator with the others even though it's a little late, any thoughts? Good or bad idea?
