As long as they are eaten, I would rather have them thinned out, than have one as a hood ornament. Your Boy looks like a proud man.

My Boy has been hunting for the past few years, but has yet to get anything. I know that when he does I will help him cut it up.

Thanks..I know I have far 'left' view of this sort of thing and I am someone who has never grown up with those experiences ect and I just hope people who hunt don't hunt indiscriminately ect...it is still something that shocks me growing up a city kid.

I completely understand dwegg, but I can see the importance of allowing them to be hunted with laws being obeyed. We do NOT let the meat go to waste. We eat it, and also share with the needy in our community.

That is one beautiful animal!

I see where dwegg is coming from, but I agree with the others. If you eat beef or chicken, they have to die at some point before you eat them. It is my firm belief that animals were put here for us to use (and completely use - not just take a hide and throw away the other things you could respect the animal by using). If we didn't hunt and "harvest" animals for consumption and goods, we would have an overabundance of carcasses rotting all over the place.

But, dwegg, I do get your perspective. I sort of, kinda grew up a city kid and hunting would bother me if someone was just hunting for the hide or the head. But I think it's awesome of bikerchic to share with the community...

We had some venison round steaks once that a friend gave us. I brushed them with olive oil and salt and peppered them, grilled them for about 1 minute on each side at super high heat and voila! Yummy steak! I actually liked the venison better than beef, but beef is obviously more accessible...especially since we "grow" our own. Mmmm...steak!

My second go around with the Hovabator started on Nov 10th, I got that date from someones farmers almanac post on here.
First try was last month with 7 total with mixes of 4 WLH, 2 BR, and one banty maybe some kind of a dutch cross.
This time I have 26 brown eggs, 4 WLH eggs, and 2 banty eggs in the incubator for a hopeful Nov 30th hatch
