Saturday lockdown is for me! I'll be starting my Hogentine's Day hatch thread around then.....

That would be for those inbetween chicks that are too late for Ground Hog Day and too early for Valentine's Day!

i have pipping from my americaunas and australorps. one out already. half day early. this is my largest hatch so far. seems like they wont have room to bust out of the shell.

So I got home tonight to find a black Orpington chick hatched!

After my silkie disaster I was getting a bit worried but now I know there must have been something wrong with the brinsea I borrowed. 1 other orpington has pipped and I see a piece of shell pulsing so it's trying to zip I think.... Also 3 of my maran eggs have pipped!! How long until they start zipping?? Today is only day 20 .... Can't wait for the others to hatch.... I was so worried and discouraged at lockdown that I didn't candle so who knows how many will hatch. Im excited to see!

I just woke up to loud chirping and found 2 of the Marans hatched! No further progress on the other one that pipped and I can't see the pip in the Orpington egg anymore as these guys have been crawling all over. I did see 1 Orpington egg rocking ..... It's 4am here hmmm watch the bator or sleep? It's so sad watching the little chicks looking for their moms .....

I'm shocked any Marans hatched as they arrived in a box that looked to be drop kicked from Georgia. Who am I kidding these chicks won't let me sleep !

Darren I found a gentleman near me with over 20 hives who is willing to sell me some nucs.

I will have a little jump start on my hives that way!!

wow...that is great...I'm not telling Wade as he will wants his now too...and i am still not sure whether i want them in our backyard!!!! Our friend's dad is the Pres. of the Atlanta Bee Society so we will have great help...but...the first kid in our neighborhood to be stung and we'll be in trouble...i don't want to upset anyone as everyone doesn't mind me having ALL my chickens and a rooster!!!

Oh and I'd just like to say that because of all my sweet girls i have influence two of my immediate nieghbors to get their own chickens for their kids...awesome...
