Thanks! I can't wait to get it hung, it rained ALLLL weekend so I got nothing done and of course today when I'm back at work it's beautiful outside!! lol
I haven't candled again since day 6, but I'm going to try tonight if DH will help me and I will give you an update!
So I just thought I'd give an update on my little Tank as hopefully it will help others in the future if they have a healthy little one go suddenly down hill.
Tank was the same all day yesterday and I kept expecting to go over and find him dead but he was hanging in there .... Last night I fed Tank some egg yolk and more electrolyte water. He just stayed huddled in a ball not moving much or lifting his head or opening his eyes. He seemed to have kind lost some coordination wasn't standing and when he tried he often ended up twisting onto his back.... I would turn him over and dropper feed him more water etc etc. His feet looked a little strange like they were over extended if that makes sense.... If he did walk he was going backwards only .... so strange.. Not to mention that he had not pooped since the clear liquid squirt on Saturday!! The other one that was a little lethargic did poop..... I tried massaging his crop and belly and nothing .... So this morning still no poop and other one pooped again... I figured I needed to do something... I had read to feed him a drop or two of olive oil. Well a minute later he pooped! It was like a bunch clear mucus with a little brown. Since he pooped he is now standing, lifting his head, cleaning himself etc etc.... These things came back slowly and he was still walking backwards but has progressed and can walk forward and DRANK on his own!!! Still not 100% but seems to be on the road to recovery.
MY EGGS HATCHED! All 5 hatched and are so cute. I'm very confused though. These eggs were supposed to be laid by a Salmon Favorelle Hen who was only allowed to mate with a Salmon Faverolle Rooster
(Salmon Faverolles >>> )
Well it turns out the hen was let to mate with other roosters as it seems
All but one of these babies look like their dad was the other rooster this lady had, a Blue Silkie! I'm not mad at this but I really wanted a pure Favorelle. And not all of these 4 eggs were from the Faverolle hen, One of them looks like it was from a Polish or a Brabanter! (Both of these are crested breeds) One of the blue silkie chicks has a huge bulge on the top of his head, bigger than the others. Usually crested chicks hatch with this on their heads. The only baby that actually looks like it came from the Faverolle hen is the white on that hatched from the last white egg. It has most of the Faverolle characteristics correct like feathered legs, a beard, white feathers, except that it's missing the 5th toe.
I'm going to have to email the lady and tell her to stop selling those eggs as pure Faverolles lol! The last baby that hatched was a random Bantam. It's mom could have been either a Silver Spangled Hamburg, a Silver Sebright, or a Buff Rosecomb, and the only rooster they could mate with was a Blue Rosecomb. NOPE! This baby looks like a D'Uccle. It's black with a white belly, feathered legs, and a beard. Funny, the only other rooster this lady has besides the Faverolle, the Silkie, and the Rosecomb is a BLUE SPLASH D'UCCLE! I didn't get what I wanted AT ALL. It still will be fun to see these babies grow up and watch them feather out. It will be VERY interesting. And I will for sure not expect anything pure from that lady again LOL. I'll try to get some pictures when the mommy comes out with her babies.
My quail hatched today! I know you're not supposed to mix quail and chickens, but I put these together really quickly for some pictures. So cute! I've got 78 quail so far, with a few more in the incubator that might yet hatch. I had to open it after one was stuck under the carton all day, so I took them all out. That one too a couple of hours to stand up, but I can't tell which one it is now, so I guess it's doing OK. The chick is one of my Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, which hatched on Saturday, so two days difference between the birds.
