Anyone have a cheap coop design???

looks like fun --- around here I'd be more likely to get the old rusty METAL swing set since wood rots like crazy, but I thought about perhaps building a solar collector on the a-frame side to add to the warmth (rarely do we have to worry about getting TOO warm in the Northwest) ... particularly since this would be in shade from 3 PM on

Actually, I made a chicken coop out of a swing set, but I can't figure out how to repost it for you to see.

I second checking craigslist. I got an 8X8 storage shed for 175.00. It's in almost new condition, people bought the house and didn't want the shed and no one that came had a way to haul it. I'm currently in talks to get a 12X20 for a great deal too, assuming DH can haul that one.

I made one out of a swing set.

Eventually I added on a grow out pen

I made this one out of 5 sheets of plywood and an assortment of 2x4 and even cheaper 1x2. It is very sturdy and impossible to move it is so heavy. If yu used recycled wood panels thazt woudl cost less and you couild leave off the nest boxes and used alternatives inside. This is a bit large for 5 chickens. But fine they seem to like it.

You could look around to see if there are any old abandoned sheds you could barter for, my neighbor is picking one one in a field that belongs to of all places, Walmart!
