I accidentally put my cell phone in my front loading washing machine.

Once the machine starts you can't open the door because it locks. Is it possible that I can dry it out after the cycle and use it or is all hope lost? I dread having to tell DH that I did something soooooo stupid. To make matters worse its not a personal phone....its the business phone

The best you can do is set it on your vent and let it dry, once its fully dry try to turn it on, if it doesnt work then your most likely done for. I dropped mine in the pool...okay I didnt drop it..I jumped in the pool with it in my pocket

i've never had anything like that happen to mine, i just dropped it in the sink.. then i let it dry out and had to charge the battery. My uncle dropped his in the toilet.. recharged battery though and it worked. so you might could try.

Anything is possible, of course. But I wouldnt bank on it.

Hey, it happens; believe me you aren't the first.

there was a headline on yahoo news..it was top 10 ways to salvage cell phone when somethin like this happens...the one i remember is..if you get it wet..put it in a bag of rice...water is evil to cell phones tho..especially in a washing machine...good luck:)

WHAT EVER YOU DO..... DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TURN IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!

You need to take it apart the most you can and lay it out to dry.

Do not turn it on until completely dry....

You may be able to use it after it dries out, but more than likely not. I dropped mine out of my waders into about 2 feet of water and didn't notice it until I reached for it to call my friend. I took it home and took the back off of it and set DW's hair dryer to blow on it for about an hour, then let it set for about 2-3 days. After that I plugged it in to charge and it started to work again, but there wasn't any soap involved either! Good Luck!

I will attempt to disassemble it and dry it out. At least its not some phone that costs hundreds of dollars but still...grrr. The part that is going to make hubby so upset is last month I did not check pockets and I ran a black crayon through the dryer and now the phone. I feel so stupid. 33 years old and still have not learned to check the dang pockets before doing the laundry.

My DD has dropped hers in the shower, etc. on several different occasions, and each time she just put it in a bag of rice afterward and let it dry out.
