Anyone have a good way to rid pets of fleas?

Does the USA have "Revolution?" It's like advantage, just higher end... (or at least more exspensive) lol
That's what I use here in Canada, durning the summer, it kills fleas, ticks (slowly) and a few other things... can't remember... but we had problems and switched from advatage to revolution. It helped us
Good luck!

I used to work at a vets office and have highly recommended Comfortis. I use it on my pets and have had no problems. To avoid the vomiting thing, which we told clients, you MUST give with a full meal or they will throw it up. Any of the clients who have used it have had NO adverse reactions to it at all except that they no longer have a flea problem. I havent heard of anyone calling back about the lethargy or tembling or any of the other side effects listed by another poster. I myself can attest that Ive had no problems with it at all. I would suggest it but make sure you give them food with it. I normally just give it to them in some bread and give them several slices with it because bread fills up thier stomach. Never have a problem. Just wanted you to know my experience.

ok, Thanks so much everyone...I'll call my vet in the morning re: the Comfortis and I like the vinegar solution and the sage one as well....I have sage in my herb garden and I love the smell of it..so if my dog had it on..it would be great.

salt on the carpet, lots of vacuming,a flea coller on the dog, and the dog stays outside all the time.
we had it really bad with our cat. ugh it sends shivers done my spine just thinking about them.

We have had the same problem this summer! The fleas are horrible! BUT we have been doing the following and haven't had a problem in the house anymore or on the dogs...First we are using K9 advantix. We also bombed the house makes sure it has an IGR in it! That only helped so long so I went to home depot and got this Flea Spray. It is only for fleas comes in a big white job with a spray nozzel cost about $12-$14. We was the dogs is Dawn and we do this everytime we start to notice fleas! We also sprayed the yard. Oh and a flea collar! Vaccum a lot! It's all a pain but we dont have them in the bedrooms like we did. Good LUCK!!!

vinegar works really well for lots of things. it really does seem to be a super (natural) drug! we put apple cider vinegar in all the animals waterers and the cats and dogs get a diluted solution rubbed over them whenever they are bathed. i've also got a diluted solution in a squirt bottle if i see anyone with a flea. we've got DE in the yard (mostly for ants) which helps, but doesn't solve, the flea problem. oh, you can put DE in your pet shampoo for an extra boost. it's like a good exfoliation scrub.

we don't use any of the flea medications. Advantage killed my best friend's cat and my cat is allergic to every chemical flea treatment we've tried. he gets sick even if it's on the dog. we've been flea medication free for about 5 years now and it's pretty manageable with the vinegar and DE.

I just had my dog come down with a horrid case of fleas... (thanks to a dog at a family get -together..:-/) Vinegar ALWAYS works for me! I bathe him, and wipe him down with distilled white vinegar and the problem almost disappears immediately! A nice natural way to go.
