Anyone have a tortoise?

I'm so sorry to hear you lost your tort. I will definitely we watching the climbing issue. I know some people make pens with corner caps so that a tortoise can't climb over, but then he can flip over on his back......

I know the next reptile show around here is at the Lancaster County Convention Center, Lancaster, PA

September 25th 2010

Show time:

Saturday 9:00 am - 4:30 pm

I had a Russian tortoise up until a few days ago when mine decided he would like to climb out of my barn while I had the door open for 5 minutes

There slow when ur watching but there good at getting away

This is the second one we have lost ! Guess were not cut out for them haha

Nice torts everyone !!

PK08--both my Russians are lost too...keep looking! It is just a pity that they are so small and hard to see on the ground! There "camo" is excellent! Yours climbed up a barn door? I thought a 24" brick wall was tough...Terri O

I have 3 russians, Ripley, Dietrich and Frost and a Redfoot, Pod.
All three are females. I love them.

I think my redfoot is a female but not sure.

Terri he didn't climb up a door . He did crawl/fall of a ledge from the barn to the ground !

They do blend in extremely well . It's crazy .

Best of luck to you finding urs!!!

CONQUER YOUR FEARS! As an avid reptile show-goer & snake owner, I can assure you that ALL the snakes for sale are secured. Yes, there will be a few 'out,' but they will be firmly held by their owners. People are not going to walk up to you and shove a snake in your face. If you want a tort that badly, conquer your fear of snakes & GO. You will be glad you did! There are some awesome creatures to look at and you don't even have to touch them. I hope you go...

I'd like to but I don't think I can. My 2 kids have a marching band competition that our school is hosting that day. Snakes aren'Mt so bad. Well the nonpoisonous ones anyway. I don't mind the big ones, but just don't want to feed them. You should go though. It's pretty cool. Like TigerLilly said, all the reptiles are contained. The vendors are really nice and willing to answer any questions you have. My advice is to do research before you go though so you know what you might be in for if you do end up coming home with a tortoise.

Froggie, keep me updated with other reptile shows in the area. I went to one last january and bought my crested gecko. I'd love to go to another!
