Anyone have Black East India Ducks? looking for opinions about them.

I've been searching for an answer other than "they fly well" and haven't found one. So for those of you wiyh BEIs or Calls, how high can they fly? I'm trying to determine how high their pens should really be. So can they fly really high or only like 10 ft off of the ground?

Oh no, they can *really* fly, not just get off the ground. Now, whether they will or not just depends on the individual. None of my BEI were ever really flyers. In contrast, my Aussie Spots are rather frequent flyers. I am not sure if it is more of an individual thing or a breed thing.

My experience with the bantams is that there will sometimes be one in a group that likes to fly. I have *never* had a whole group take flight though nor have I ever had one completely fly off (not that it couldn't happen I suppose). They always seem to return to their flock rather quickly.

I am more concerned about predators in uncovered flights though than the birds flying off. Due to the predator factor, almost all of mine are in completely covered runs.
