Anyone have chicks due around Nov. 5th?

Temp is 99.5, I got the eggs from my neighbor, he has mostly rhode island reds. All large chickens. My incubator is a store bought stirofoam with fan.

Minnie has two chicks!!

And Poppi has one!!

Two more eggs are pipping!!

My D'uccle eggs are due in exactly a week!

Well, alot as gone on in the past day (and night)

I'll post pictures so you know who I'm talking about.

This is Ember, (the blue Silkie), she's the one that is not broody anymore.



This is Annie. A sizzle. She just went broody yesterday afternoon.

This is Poppi (the buff silkie). She has an egg that has externally pipped, and one that has internally pipped.

Poppi, eating a persimmon.


Minnie, with her baby. Its doing so much better! It can stand with out falling over, and is responding to Minnie, when she clucks.

Very pretty girls! And a cute little chicky! Congrats!

My mama hen has 6 babies (last I checked) and is still sitting on 2 eggs. She was sitting on 4 but she pushed 2 out. I candled them and they have only been developing for about a week. They are still all veins. So either they stopped developing or they are newer eggs. I put them in the incubator and I'll give them to the other broody mama if they hatch. I'm still trying to get good pics but Mama Hen will have nothing of it. When she sees me coming she calls to her babies and they all pop right back into the nest.

Three of the four are out and doing good. One needed help and was all stuck together with membrane, we call it sticky. I gave it a warm bird bath and it is doing fine. One egg doesnt seem to even be moving.It looked the same as the others when candling them but nothing so far. How long should I wait to decide if it is viable?

Wait at least three days. Sometimes it just takes longer. We had a chick that hatched 4 days after the due date.
