Anyone have Cochins for sale near SD?

I'm nowhere near you, but i just wanted to say yay for getting your cochin!

I've got one that is 6 weeks old now. Anne, a bantam red. And I've got 2 more that are 1 week olds. Another red and a splash or blue, not sure yet.

Anne is the sweetest thing! Congrats on your new boy!

here is a pic of my new cochin

So I know standards come in like hatchery production and there are also purebreds is it like that for cochin bantams too? because my new cochin is huge compared to my hen I know he should be bigger then her but should he really be twice the size of her?

Are you sure they're both bantams?

I don't know much about breeding as far as like, quality. I don't know if that's necessarily the correct term.

I think you have show quality that typically you find with reputable breeders who raise specific breeds for specific traits. Then you have hatchery quality which I believe is what you get from feed stores or when you order from Meyer, Cackle, etc. Which are fine for most of us, but I guess maybe don't always meet the standards of a show quality bird?

Then you have your barnyard or back yard mixes, which may be mixed breed or even full breed but with some unreliable or wonky traits.

I might be way off base though.

They are both definitely bantams. I got my hen from a hatchery down by Huron SD I also got some Silver Laced Cochins standard but they were mixed with Wyandottes so I don't know if the cochin bantams were mixed even my cochin bantam cockerel was small

I've been researching weights of bantams this morning, because I'm still worried about one of my chicks. What I could find was that by one week, bantam chicks should weigh between 65 and 85 grams. None of my week olds are near that. They're mostly in the mid 30s. The one I'm worried about is only 26.

Since I'm not concerned about 3 of the 4, but their weights are not "typical," I'm left to the conclusion that sizes just vary. My 4th, however, I think may be an issue.
