Thanks, I read Storey's guide, but like additional resources.

I've just set 14 eggs under my standard cochin hen who went broody on Friday morning. Set them under her around lunch yesterday. So we are expecting them to hatch on March 17th :D This will be my first time hatching anything, and I am stoked!

Hi everyone. I would love to join. We have 17 eggs that are now on day 3. It is our first time incubating, so it's super exciting. We candled them today and I thought all 17 were fertile. I have read more, and now I think we may have "blood rings" in a few. Can anyone give me their opinion on what they see. I would appreciate it!!

I would hold off. Day three is not a good day to make a decision about a blood ring. As far as I know they show up later, I may be wrong.

These are really good pics. How do you do it?

The first two definitely look like blood rings to me and at three your eggs should look like this if they growing and fertile. I know the pic isnt that great, sorry but you can see what looks like a red spider or octopus in the middle...thats the chick growing and veining out.
