My Leghorn broody is sitting on four eggs... the other three got smashed so I moved her...

I have a PIP!!!! I candled last nite, and have one late quitter, but I should get three little fuzzy butts today! Yay!!! (just had to tell someone lol)

I didn't think Leghorn's go broody? I'd read it had been bred out of them?

That's what I thought too... so when she plucked out all her breast feathers and wouldn't get out of the nest box I thought maybe she was sick! She has one hatched, one got stepped on after it had zipped

and one to go... but two is okay, seeing as how I assumed I wouldn't have a broody girl in the first place!

I'd say that hen is a keeper. Good egg layer and a Broody!!

Yes! She's a tad grumpy at me for bugging her today, but she will get over it LOL

checked my eggs that are going to go on lockdown saturday. out of 5 theres 2, did an egg topsey, looks like they just quit, idk y. One had a crooked beak... It was a blue chick to!! i wish it made it. it would have been bantam cochin and sumatra mix

In lockdown with eggs due today tammrow and Monday. Have 11 pips and an early bird who hatched yesterday morning

Wow, lots of egg hatching going on. Mine are going into lock down tomorrow morning! I have nine Ancona eggs. woot!

Havent had a chance to read well through this thread yet but will do.....
However I have a quick question.....Do I turn on Day 18, then top up water that night for DY19 to 21?
Everything I read says turn until day 18 etc... lockdown for the last 3 days but I wanted to confirm!
Mine are due to hatch Friday the 29th (they went in Friday the 8th in the morning)
Please tell me exactly when I should finish turning and top up water!!! Thanks!
