Havent had a chance to read well through this thread yet but will do.....
However I have a quick question.....Do I turn on Day 18, then top up water that night for DY19 to 21?
Everything I read says turn until day 18 etc... lockdown for the last 3 days but I wanted to confirm!
Mine are due to hatch Friday the 29th (they went in Friday the 8th in the morning)
Please tell me exactly when I should finish turning and top up water!!! Thanks!

with ducks you candle, and turn, and water for the last time on the 24th then they're in the bator from the 25, 26, 27,28th (or whenever they hatch) so I assume it would be the same with chickens. last day to do the water and turning would be the 17th. then the 18,19, 20, and 21 are the days you don't touch it.

Feel free to correct me! I don't know chickens, I just know how the ducks work.

ETA: My mom hatches out her own eggs and she said that the last day to turn/water is the 17th. good luck!

One Chicks out!! Its a Cochin Bantam!! Glad to hear everyone elses eggs are doing good!! Good luck with the rest!! Ill be having eggs hatching all the way to the first week of next month! Ill post pics of the new chick!

Heres the first chick out. I think its ganna be partridge. father is partridge cochin bantam, Mother is white or black cochin bantam or a RIR bantam.

Nothing from my Silky yet. But I was surprised to hear peeping from the incubator this morning. 2 hatchlings!!

The dry one is yellow. The second is silvery grey and still wet. They are about a day & 1/2 early - but then I looked at my notes and saw that one egg was sat on for 2 days by my Silky before I put it in the incubator. That would explain the Silvery Grey chick. I thought it looked like a Cochin. But doesn't explain the yellow chick. It would have to be from the eggs I bought from a neighbor.

Need to get ready for work. Will post pictures when I get home this afternoon.

Home from work. Since the Silky eggs weren't doing anything this morning (should have hatched yesterday), I brought them in & put in the incubator. Giving them a couple more days. But in exchange I gave Bitty 2 of the standard eggs. One has hatched.

She has a wet white chick under her. One more has hatched in the incubator.

It's orange and appears to be an EE chick. The lady I got my eggs from said she had some Araucana chickens, but I think just hens not roosters. Still have 8 eggs to go, and again they aren't even due until tomorrow evening.
