Anyone have electrified Chicken netting to keep predators out?

Running the wires is simpler than it sounds.You always run one hot line of electric fence wire from the positive side of the charger all the way around your run until you get one strand up on insulators .If you want 2 strands run a 2nd line. It has to have a ground wire running from the charger to a copper or galvanized post in the ground.The instructions will tell you how deep its got to be set in the ground to complete the circuit.The unit is not powered up while you're installing it so you can't get hurt.

I know this is an older post but … do you use the electric wire only at night or all the time? Do you only need one wire? I am new at this and trying to figure things out. Thanks!

I leave it on unless I'm working around the coops. In the past I had it on a timer to shut off during the day and on at night until the timer died and once a fox dug under one of the pens gate and proceeded to kill several birds and I caught it dragging the birds it killed out under the gate so I put concrete under the gates and left the wires on.

Apologies for more questions, but I want to make sure I understand all this. I see you have three wires at different heights — supposedly at varying “predator nose” heights, correct? I also see that the wires are outside the fenced area and not touching the fencing. Do I need to be very careful that the wires are clear of the inner fencing? Lastly, the paddock where my run is has a gate. Should I be running wires across the gate as well? Thank you!

Most predators first explore with their noses. I use the poly rope wire which is easy to see. I have three wires which will also discourage any predator from jumping. I have the wires approximately a foot away from the fence. If the electric wires touch the fence wire it will cause a short. I do have wires along the bottom of the gates so if a predator explores with its nose and touches the wire, it will know it. I do have concrete under all of the gates too. Many lessons learned the hard way. Good luck...

Just unhook and walk thru the gate and hook it on the fence when you leave.
