Just ask my husband. He went to a show for me and bought all "pure-bred" silkie hens while I was at work one day.

I was thrilled until I realized that I would have to try and find homes for 4 roosters and one mixed breed silkie hen (the comb gave it away)

I didn't have the heart to tell him they were all boys :)

hi guys! yesterday, right after our small town fourth of july parade downtown, i met up with the woman selling the silkie mixes at TSC!

she had 4 day olds - i just took all 4. i could not resist. she said the hens were all different - dad was a big silkie (maybe even a big silkie mix).

TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK OF THEM:

Say hello to our newest flock members. Top left: Krankor. Top right: Primrose. Bottom left: Henrietta. Bottom right: Hansel.

Congratulations! Thinking girly thoughts for you. The top looks like it will have a bit of a poofy crest...they others probably won't. The first also has extra silkie toes! My guess is that the first one, Krankor, will be the most silkie-like. The other three are sure going to be cute little mixes! They all look like they have some degree of leg feathering as well...although you can see how much better Krankor's is.

Thank you. So excited. And yes, girly thoughts! <3

We'll see what they turn into! I woke up every two hours last night to check on them. They are in our third floor. I am keeping them around 98 degrees. Yesterday, it got so hot, I turned the heat lamp off for a few hours. We live in an oldddd farmhouse, no air.

I just hope I make all of the right moves.

You will have to keep us updated with pictures! It is crazy how quickly they change! My youngest chicks are now 11 weeks and 10 weeks and I was looking at pics from 2 weeks ago and it is crazy how much bigger they are!

It's amazing...
It's amazing the difference days can make! I will enjoy these little fuzzy days - but I am truly excited to see them as adults.

my guess is dad was a mix as well as they have very little feathers on their legs
