This is a picture of one of my juvie roosters that hatched out last Summer. From the time of hatch he has always been lighter in color than the others. Both parents are Red Goldens and I was surprised with this one. The young rooster became enough competition for the well established Rooster of the roost and had to separate them. Can anyone confirm if this juvie will feather out as a Yellow?

Yes, he will be a yellow. Many Red goldens today carry the recessive yellow gene but it usually takes both parents carrying the yellow gene to get offspring that are yellow. This happens when reds and yellows are bred together. Breeding a pure red to a yellow will result in all red offspring, but they will carry a hidden yellow gene.

I WOULDNT COUNT ON IT... HE LOOKS LIKE A YOUNG CINNAMON, YELLOWS ARE USUALLY MUCH MORE PALE FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN... MAYBE WRONG ON THAT? BUT HE LOOKS JUST LIKE A TEENAGE COCKBIRD THAT MATCHES MY CINNAMONS

Of course if they were not cross breeding pheasants so much, this topic would be dead.Keep them pure,do not cross breed any more birds and save the species.
