Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

This guy wanted you to get close enough so he could bit you. He would act real cute and friendly, just waiting for the right moment! Yes they are very smart.
OH Yeah, they are smart and jealous. I have my husband feed Dylan her treats every morning, because she was starting to bite him when he offered his hand. Now, she knows he is the source of all the peanuts, and she tells him, "Come Here" in the morning. It took a few months.

I was curious about this myself so I checked and seen that I originally posted on 10/01, which is when I saw her, and the day or so following.

As a Quick recap:

After the capture of Mr. Squatch, I've heard or seen nothing out there. But... this isn't surprising considering the the initial encounters of when I spooked her were about 3 weeks apart or more.

I'm fairly certain that she exists apart from Mr. Squatch. I saw her first several times sans rooster before Mr. Squatch was even a thought. I also saw her when I heard the Mr. for the first time, and I had a visual on her and it wasn't her crowing. (Post #36) (I think).

On 10/2 is when I think I caught Mr. Squatch, and was around the last time I heard or saw her. So if she's sitting on eggs, somewhere around 10/21-10/23 would be hatch day, or my best guess thereof.

The problem with looking on foot is that the attached image is a photo of the terrain Im having to search.

When they cleared the land for our house they bulldozed all the trees into the woods and this jumbled mess is where they were spotted every time, and it is a snake paradise!

I'll move the food to the front of the camera and see what we get that way.

Any news on Mrs. Squatsh? How many weeks have gone by, could she have hatched her clutch by now. Really wish I had a day or two to drive over and look for her. She probably took her chicks and went back to where ever she lives. However we should continue the conversation, none the less. It's too much fun. ;)

That is her, "Come Here!" with foot up to be picked up. If a parrot is lifting the foot, they want you to let them step up on your finger/hand. If you are not willing to offer a juicy finger, a forearm will do! If the bird is lying, he wont be able to get your finger! They step up on a forearm better for strangers.

Mine tricked me last night.

He adores my husband and hates me. Naturally. Because I love him and train him and feed him and care for him.

Before bed he was hanging upside down and being cute. Then he sticks his little foot out towards me and does the grabbing action like they do, and I thought FINALLY! He loves me and wants to go to me.

So like an idiot I offered my finger to him and he grabbed it, pulled it toward him and bit the crap out of me.

What a turd!

2 steps forward, 5 steps back. Sigh.
