If my neighbors hear me talking to my chickens and dogs, it is no wonder I never see them. I wonder what they say about me around town????
At least I’m not the only crazy bird lady that talks to her animals!
A few winters ago, it was about -20 with a lot of snow on the ground so everyone was locked inside the coop. I went out to clean the coop and locked myself in with them. They were a little stir crazy so I started singing to them (I have to admit: I don’t have a great voice!) About that same time, this guy shows up to work on an electrical problem that we had in the house. Of course I wasn’t there to answer the door so he came looking for me outside and found me in the coop singing (badly) to my birds. I’m sure he thought I was some sort of nut job because I never could get that particular company to come back out and work on anything after that!

I have a terrible singing voice, and my chickens don't care. I sing to my chicks, when no one is listening, from the time they hatch, when in the brooder, and in the coop. When anything happens to upset them, my singing usually calms them right down.

Y’all! Facebook got me in trouble! Someone posted in desperate need of a home for a bantam cochin rooster and hen. The rooster is getting picked on by a bigger rooster and the cochin just hides. She talkes about how sweet this rooster is and takes care if the hen. I figured since he is already sweet I might as well give it a try. I have 4 week old b. Cochins, so hopefully it will all work out they get a little older :fl
