Oh Holy chicken poop! Not sure I want to know how that happened.
At least you weren't out shopping!

That's why we all need a "bird shirt"!Have to share my embarrassment with people I know will understand.
Worked a day account for about 3 hours today. (Luckily alone) Go about my job and get a bunch done. Go to get back in my car to leave for home. Notice a funny spot on the back of my seat.

Yep! Chicken shit down my back!![]()
I've been pooped on more times then I'd like to count. That's why we all need a "bird shirt"!
"Nose blind anyone?"I was in the coop before I left and went under where someone was roosting. How I didn't notice I'm not sure. I couldn't believe it.
I have designated old denim shirts for hanging out with Dylan.I've been pooped on more times then I'd like to count.
I thought I smelled something for a second but I got nasty cecal poo on my arm the night before. And even though I scrubbed my arm raw I swear I could still smell it."Nose blind anyone?"
At five weeks old, you should be ok with what you have. I don't do babies this late in the year—but in early spring it's still very cold. Mine are off heat by week three and they handle it fine. I believe that supplemental heat can retard growth of critical down to keep them warm when it get's cold. That's not based on science, just my own personal observations. My chicks seem to be doing fine with one heat lamp and they are enclosed is the coop and it should be pretty much draft free, but it suppose to be in the 40’s here tonight. It has been pretty windy today and just feels so cold. Can I add a regular light bulb (if I can even find one) tonight until I get another red heat bulb tomorrow? It is suppose to be in the 30’s tomorrow night!! The chicks are 5 weeks old and some still look 2 weeks old. Sometimes they spread out a little and sometimes they huddle close.
Sorry so long winded!
I did find a 50 Watt Turtle lamp/bulb I could use until tomorrow??
Interesting. It is not unusual for us to have cold snaps, but still have the air conditioner running until December. I was a little concerned about raising chicks in the fall, but did it anyway. At least I should have eggs coming by spring/early summer. At five weeks old, you should be ok with what you have. I don't do babies this late in the year—but in early spring it's still very cold.
