Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

Morning y'all!!! The dumped rooster I caught last week is all settled into his new home! Here's the update I just got

"Hes doing quite well! It took a day or so for my hen to accept his friendship lol...but he follows her everywhere now. He gets to sleep inside at night, and has learned hes not allowed on top of the refrigerator or the shelf above the tv."

:lau:love What a sweet life for a thrown away roo.

I passed on this info hours ago and forgot to say THANK YOU!
Thank you, @Parront
My library has a copy of "Pastured Poultry Profits" by Joel Salatin, which I did not think was a difficult read, maybe ~8th grade level? It is very practical and oriented to an adult who wants to make some money with their chickens. Maybe not a beginning chicken book, but the reason people are motivated to go beyond their current level is sometimes monetary. When my kids were in High School I home-schooled for a few years, they were motivated by learning about cars. Chilton's is not easy reading, learning to use a computer in 1999 was pretty difficult as well. One daughter made a Powerpoint presentation on "How to Replace a Head Gasket" for her 10th grade project.

Wow! A HEAD GASKET??!!
where was she when that happened to my daughter's car??
We got her a '75 Dodge Dart with $300 of her babysitting money. She loved that car! Wanted to drive it all the time! After the needed work done by pro mechanics, she still needed work, but no more babysitting money! So, bought the book, asked the old fart mechanic lots of questions, DIY! She learned a valuable skill, made friends with the old "Carb Guy" mechanic, and passed the state test for 10th grade with flying colors. Not motivated by class work in her school, in 9th grade they said she would never graduate. Took her out of that school.

I pulled my son out of his last school and he is thriving now.
