Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

Yea, we see them A LOT here. Enough that they are the star of everyone's irrational fear of leprosy. I think they're kind of charming.

I don't know why but your armadillo is so exciting! Way more exciting than our boring bunnies & possums. Are they common there?

I've watched The Private Lives of Chickens. It was the bomb! Loved it! Made me feel so much better about how my girls were treating the new girl Frances. Also explains how they subtly talk to one another. Opened my eyes to how they communicate with one another.

My daughter and I saw baby armadillos playing in clover by their mom and they were adorable! Like little pig-rabbit-turtle babies!

We saw several babies and the mom a few years ago and even armadillo babies are cute! One dug an enormous hole/tunnel under our porch.

A couple I picked out are very small compared to Stanley, Dorothy and Blanche (all bantam brahmas- Rose and Sophia are smaller)! I have never had a rooster and Stanley’s hormones are kicking in! Wow!

Updates:
I checked the cams and no Mrs. Squatch. Hoping she's just out there somewhere hatching out some next generation Squatchlings.

I did see an armadillo.

I also heard coyotes for the first time in the 8 or so years I've lived here.

Armadillos are the cutest!! I wish we lived near some.
The closest I have is a neighbor with a pet pig named Patty who eats all our fallen apples & pears. Cute too, but not the same

And yes, I love spending time with y'all. You make me laugh out loud and don't judge me for talking chickens all day every day.

How funny! I just saw this last week on Netflix. Great doc! Loved the section on the way they talk and also how they can learn. I started clicker training my girls & they pick up things as quickly as my dog. Really I don't get why people think chickens aren't smart.

I've had the opposite where I almost lost my mom several times in the last couple years. She's become severely delusional & manic depressive, & we can't always tell what is an accident & what is a suicide attempt. But either way, she's ended up in the ICU almost dead more than once. And she fights everything we all try to do to help her.

The chickens and my dog have been a source of therapy for me - just a daily reminder to take things moment by moment & not be paralyzed by the what ifs. Animals are wonderful that way!

Mental Illness is real. My mother had it and I struggle too. Suicide is a lie that makes you believe everyone will be better off without you. It is very convincing and the loneliest place to be.
