Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

Those are great cakes. My writing sucks on paper, I cannot write on a cake. I will find the Cover Up cake. I cut out letters and I feel it is cheating since I cannot write.
I will have to measure the roosts. Too high though.
Thanks! Oh, I would love to see the Cover Up cake. I don't think it's cheating, letters are super hard and I think the kind of icing you use really makes a difference. I do not have a steady hand at all so that messes things up too. That's why I love the coloring book thing. I tape everything to a cookie sheet and I can work from the edges filling stuff in & fix it before it hits the cake, but w/ writing you have no room for mistakes.

Got the crow!!! Sounds a little better today.
Oh! He's adorable! How old is he?

@apryl29 Your cakes are incredible!

What do you use for writing?
If you haven't tried a cornet,
There's an easy to follow video on wicked goodies.net called How to make parchment paper cones for cake writing and decorating.

Try it! It's so much easier than trying to write on a cake with a piping bag!
Thank you! I just use a plastic pastry bag w/ a 3 or 4 writing tip. I even bought the writing pen thing for frosting, but it was super bulky and I didn't like it. I'll have to check out that video. Clearly my writing needs a lot of help. I think the type of frosting is important too. I usually just use canned stuff b/c I haven't been able to find a decent homemade frosting recipe. I'd love to steal it from a bakery near me, when they make it right it tastes amazing. I've seen where they have these stamp things for letters, but I never tried them. I've also seen were people say to use a toothpick to draw in the frosting to make a guide for yourself. I've done that, but usually forget to do it when the time comes. I reallyyyy like the cheater flags/ candles that say Happy Birthday! and sugar letters.

Once I was home and watching Father of the Bride while I was folding laundry. My ex came home and changed it to sports. I got pissed. Then for my bday he bought me the movie.. Um, that wasn't the f-ing point. I'm sure no one is surprised we're not longer married. He also bought me a plant and a Simpson's DVD with my own credit card for Mother's day after we split. SMH.

Mine love lizards, frogs and mice.

Frogs are definitely the big ticket item though. JEEZ ! What a racket they make playing keep away with a big fat frog!
But I gotta draw the line at rats.
I just hate them.
I've seen mine eat a frog, my daughter said she saw one eat a toad. I haven't seen them get a mouse yet, but they can have at it. I'm ok w/ pet mice, but the disease carrying ones I draw the line at. My cat proudly carries her prizes to the house to eat them by the porch. I worry that someone will put out poison and my cats/ birds will end up eating a poisoned mouse, but so far everyone's been ok.

The nice thing about the cornet is you only need a small amount of frosting so it literally can fit in the palm of your hand.
I'm a pretty good baker.
But can NOT decorate.
I worked in a bakery for a few years.
writing, it turned out was my jam. Lol.

*fun fact.
If you are super nice, sometimes a bakery will sell you frosting by the pound.
(And it's not cheap)
They never advertise this fact, you have to ask very quietly.

Omg... anything the DH turns on. He is a total remote hog. Then falls asleep in 2 minutes. If I try to slide the remote out his hand to change the channel, it's like a death grip ...
"Hey! I was watching that!"

...through his eyeballs
Solution, get a second remote and hide it until he falls asleep.

I'll have to give that a try. Xmas cookie decorating season will be here soon. I'm a terrible baker, but I try sometimes. My mom has this obsession w/ xmas cookies. Each year she says she's not going to make a lot, then each year a few days before xmas she starts make a crap ton of cookies then puts them in the freezer where they are never eaten. The kicker is she's diabetic and shouldn't have them. I keep telling her to stop, but she insists that everyone expects her to make them. They don't. We don't. No one does.
I tried to get a job there in HS just so I could learn all their secrets. LOL It's a family place so they weren't hiring outsiders. Probably b/c they don't want anyone to know the secrets of their crack donuts.
I probably shouldn't b/c then I'd probably eat it all and end up on Jerry Springer, or on the news as the morbidly obese lady who was eaten by her chickens after she fell down and couldn't get back up.

If you have a roku there's an app for your phone so you can use it as a remote if you lose yours. My kids LOVE to hijack the tv and and start streaming random things from youtube for me.
