Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

Ask your vet if you can give her benadryl a half hour or so before you med/treat her, it may calm her down (dog dose is a mg per pound, alot higher than in people). Mild sedating qualities.

Pet dentistry is way expensive, cuz you're paying for xrays, bloodwork, the visit, the actual work done...unlike a person you can't clean/pull teeth on an awake dog (or cat, yikes).

Can't clean or pull MY teeth without sedation either. I get very bad calcium build up that is PAINFUL to have removed...

You know..... Some chickens just never "fit" in certain groups.

I have had a few like that. Mine were always the horridly mean ones though. You know, the hair pullers on the playground.

In the long run you may have to keep poor little bucket head in a separate set up with mellow birds and no rooster.

It sux but it may be best for her.

I brought one chicken back a few weeks ago thinking I could slowly bring them all back together. Sesame knew who she was immediately! They fought, Sesame ran scared sh!tless. That other hen got that evil glare in her eye again. I took they other back to my friend. Sesame was on lookout for a couple of days. Pitiful!

Very true... that's why our leghorns are going to freezer camp soon.... 2 of them are just out and out assholes.... I think I MAY keep Eliza...... she never seems to be the cause of any troubles..... but Purple Thunder and Brain need to go!!!

My husband was irritated that I gave away 3 and kept 1. He said it didn’t make good sense. I guess we could have eaten them, but that never crosses my mind.

I found California Whites to be WAY nicer then regular leghorns and just as good or better at laying.

Mine were friendly, calm and low to middle ranking. Even in a flock with bantams they behaved. I have one now but she is a mess. She was in my rescues and due to poor nutrition is already done laying at just 2 years old. She is still nice so gets a free ride.
I plan to get more someday.

Mine pick at everyone... except the queen biddy, Currahee. I fear trying to integrate the Nuggets in with the flock with those 2 chits still in the run.... and I know PT was pecking at poor Xena the whole time she was broody... in HER OWN COOP... PT would come into Xenas coop just to peck at her... friggen ass!!
