anyone have mexican snowflake quail?

Buck Creek: Thank You for the kind words!
I'm not sure I deserved them but I'm glad I had enough knowledge of birds to notice that they were different. It was a lot of work to get them where they are today. I had several close calls over the years but now I think they will be around for a long time. The truth is; there is no telling how many mutations have actually gotten over looked or lost throughout the years. I'm glad I was paying attention and that I loved birds enough to do it the right way.

Thanks Again
Kenny

I love your little mutants

GunRunnergundogs.com :

Deerman; thanks for all the nice words about the Snowflake Quail! I remember talking to you and for the most part all the points you made were spot on! However, I have actually had my flock of birds for about 5 years now but I only started selling the eggs about 2 years ago. I hope you and your birds are all doing well....

For everyone else that don't know who I am, Please let me introduce myself.
My name is Kenny Armstrong and a few years ago these birds started showing up my regular Mexican Specled flock. Despite what some may think I have never owed any white bobwhite quail and these birds have never never been crossed with any other species to get this color. They are a pure mutation from the regular yellow phase mexican speckled quail. If anyone wants to read the full story of how these birds came about please vist my website and read the full story. When the site opens, click on the gamebird and then click on the button for reading the full story.

I have also been told that an article I wrote was published last month in the Gamebird Gazette but I haven't seen a copy of it yet.
If anyone has questions, please send me an email and I will respond when I can.

Thank You
Kenny Armstrong

First Kenny Welcome to BYC

Yes I knew you had them longer wasnt sure how long, did want to give credit to you for saving this mutation. Glad you sold some eggs now think this mutation will be safe, as more flocks are out there. In the case something happen to your flock(predators, etc)

Didnt remember your last name, Glad to see you on here. The snowflake is still as rare as snowflakes in your state.

Now we have the whole story, how the Snowflake quail came about. Now we need to keep it pure, dont start crossing it with other bobs. not even the mexican speckled. Know a few people have started doing so already. Just to try and make a few more bucks.

Thanks Kenny for posting the facts.

I saw and talk with March farms, who import the common quail into the US. From the mid east, these have been crossed and even call japanese quail, when I knew for a fact they were not. The white coturnix was a mutation of the common quail, given the name english white.

Now we just have to keep these true facts about the snowflakes out there. People are already thinking they are crosses.

Thanks Burt:
I appreciate you carrying the tourch and keeping the facts striaght. I can only hope that people will do what is right when it comes to these birds but as you know I have no control of what others do!! If people will go to my site and just read the article they will see that the "Snowflake" didn't happen over night! Here are the addresses again if someone missed them.

Hello Again ,

I just receive my very 1st. Game Bird and Conservationists’ GAZETTE Book in the mail today well I guess this is a pre order book , anyway the very first page and article in the book is your article Kenny- Raising Quail & The New “Snowflake” White Mexican Speckled Bobwhite .
Well I was very interested in this breed when I seen it posted on here and looking at your web site with the color pic.’s of them and now reading about it in this magazine really got my attention on raising some of these Snowflake bobwhite quail . I’ll be e-mailing you after the Holidays to see if you have any breeders or hatching eggs for sale .

Well again I just like to say Thanks to you Kenny and to Burt for posting about this breed of quail and also like to Thank solarquail for starting this post about “Snowflake” White Mexican Speckled Bobwhite

Thanks Again
Alan

Kenny, I also enjoyed reading your article in the Gazette magazine. I will be getting in touch with you about getting some of the snowflakes or eggs.

Kenny I just wanted to say I enjoyed your article very much. It just so happens that Game bird gazette sent me two issue, if you don't have a copy with your article in it I would be more than happy to send you my extra one, just pm me your address and I will mail it to you. I purchased 20 or so Mexican Speckled quail from a poultry swap last spring here in Tn. and to my surprise some of the offspring are the snowflakes. I am keeping them seperate and trying to start a breeding program myself. I am almost sure these came from your birds, the young man I bought them from purchased the Mexican Speckled eggs from you, he drove down from Tn. and bought them. I am so pleased with them and I am happy you have joined in here to tell us more about them.

Thanks Again everyone for all the nice words about the Gamebird Gazette article. It was the first that I have ever written, so to here that some of you actually enjoyed the article made my effort worth while. I have been asked to do a follow up on the birds, so look for another sometime next year.

Alan:
Just for the record my birds start laying in May if you are interested in eggs please reserve your eggs early. If you need grown birds, I have about 25 pairs that I will be selling this winter. You can find the prices listed on my web site under the gamebird section. www.gunrunnergundogs.com
