anyone have mexican snowflake quail?

Yes, these are terrific and I'd pay the $80.00 to $100.00 per pair next year (will start saving now!). But I want the pure white ones, no splits or slightly cream colored ones will do for me. I think the pure white color is what makes the quail great.

$50. per egg? Wow, I had no idea they sold for that much. Mine are very nice looking birds, they are the solid white with black flakes, no brown or cream at all in them. I am going to move them to a warmer building tomorrow and maybe put a light on them and see if they will start laying again! I thought they were rare but I really had no idea they were that rare.

deerman
The white mexican snowflake speckled quail has only been around about two years.

So I take it that this Snowflake Mexican Speckled Quail
is a (Mutation / Hybrid) of a A M white and a what ……..???? …… a Mexican Speckled which is a (Mutation / Hybrid) already or maybe a Tibetan Coturnix Quail ………

I would take it that if one was to try to cross two different type of breeds /or colors to try to get a certain color / size of quail would take a few different generations from the same breeding pairs to get a true or somewhat true ( in this case ) a Snowflake Mexican Speckled Quail.

Oh Deerman I really like your Quail Of ur Snowflake Mexican Speckled , do you breed them , are they true or do you get splits or mutts as I call them . What color are the eggs ……..do you sell any of your Snowflake Mexican Speckled Quail eggs ………..

Thanks Alan

It is actually a bobwhite mutation. Not Coturnix.

The white mexican speckled ,is a true mutation of the mexican speckled bobwhite.(missing the yellow color). They do breed true.

They showed up in a flock of mexican speckled, that A guy raised to train his bird dogs. They are pure bobwhites not a Hybrid, just a color mutation. The guy started selling the eggs on ebay 2 yrs ago for the first time. Yes the eggs are white, just like all bobs.

Some people are already crossing them with mexican speckled, not good as you will get splits and ones with yellow color thru out the body.

I talk to the Guy 2 yrs ago about his flock of bobs, he didnt raise bobs to sell just to train his dogs, then he started getting the white mexican speckled. He didnt even have any Coturnix Quail,or any other quails. He had a closed flock for many years, without any new blood.

Becareful buying eggs as alot are still breeding them with the normal mexican speckled. Both parents must be white speckled.

Deerman; thanks for all the nice words about the Snowflake Quail! I remember talking to you and for the most part all the points you made were spot on! However, I have actually had my flock of birds for about 5 years now but I only started selling the eggs about 2 years ago. I hope you and your birds are all doing well....

For everyone else that don't know who I am, Please let me introduce myself.
My name is Kenny Armstrong and a few years ago these birds started showing up my regular Mexican Specled flock. Despite what some may think I have never owed any white bobwhite quail and these birds have never never been crossed with any other species to get this color. They are a pure mutation from the regular yellow phase mexican speckled quail. If anyone wants to read the full story of how these birds came about please vist my website and read the full story. When the site opens, click on the gamebird and then click on the button for reading the full story.

I have also been told that an article I wrote was published last month in the Gamebird Gazette but I haven't seen a copy of it yet.
If anyone has questions, please send me an email and I will respond when I can.

Thank You
Kenny Armstrong
