that talk? I can NOT teach mine to talk they just squack and whistle. I'm trying to inspire them to talk by letting them listen to Parakeets chatting away on youtube but they sit there like a stump on a log. The only video they really get into is this one
which they are crazy for and bob up and down and side to side, well at least the first time I played it then they stopped like it was old news. I also can't get them to breed at all I thought it would be cool to raise a couple but NOPE they layed some eggs once but they ate them. Any suggestions?

LOL Parakeets are a hoot for sure....very interesting playful birds.

I have 3. The males bonded and leave the female out but she dosen't care...so no eggs from mine yet either.

Mine don't talk. Our cockatoo and macaws all talk though. I love parakeet chatter. It is so pretty sounding.

Mine enjoy waking me up the morning so I have the cage out of my room now and in the basement near the sliding glass door so they can look outside.

Our 'keet imitates the whistles of our cockatiel and our conure in a very tiny, helium-sounding voice, really fast. It's hilarious when she really goes off. I think I've detected her imitating our conure's words in a tiny voice, too, but she does it so fast it's hard to tell for sure.

I gave the kids I watch 3 of my hand fed babies. They are about a year old now and one does talk. He says hello, meows like a cat, kisses, wolf whistles and sounds like a guinea pig. I am trying to teach him "here kitty kitty" He's almost getting it. It took almost the whole year of repeating "hello" almost everyday before he picked it up. He learned the meow and guinea pig wheeking from those critters so it sounds real.

One of the others does the whistle and the other which is a female doesnt say anything other then parakeet talk.
