Ah... good to know. Most of the people asking for the Huns are dog trainers...

I think I'll stick with the chuks. They actually let me pick them up from time to time.

Chucks do better in captivity. They are also way more personable. I think they lose their wildness or are less flighty as well.

For me it's the other way around! But I think they both do well in captivity and are easy to raise.

Of course out of the 10 types of partridges we have-- I like Roul Roul partridge the best.

I wouldn't be able to keep Roul-rouls... they're not winter hardy...

How do you install your CHukars for the cold snowy winters? Can I let them out if I cut the wind in their aviary, or would I be better to lock them up inside their coop. Would I be better to insulate the coop or not? I am in southern Quebec neaar the Vermont border. It is so nice to finally find some groups discussing chukars.

My chukars had a wooden box with straw in it, and were fine down to -35°F all winter...

As long as they're fully feathered and full grown, they do GREAT in the winter.

Are your wooden boxes on the ground or elevated? If so, how high should the boxes need to be. How do I know when they are getting ready to start laying. Do I remove the eggs every day or let them accumulate before removing?
