Anyone have pics of a PVC pipe-based run?

I'm thinking about making the run in my garden this year out of PVC with hardware cloth wired through holes drilled in it. I'm debating whether to glue the joints or drill and use bolts.

Anyone have pictures of theirs? Thanks!

Hi,

I built a PVC run for my girls and used an old igloo style dog house for a roost/nest. I used zip-ties to hold the wire mesh in place. The PVC cleans easily and is very light weight (easy to move). I left about 6" of mesh at the bottom of each side and staked this to the ground to keep out predators. The "door" is a 3' x 3' wall attached to the run with small bungie cords.

I had one but replaced it with a sturdier wood version. The ease of movement and lightweight nature of a PVC run ended up being the precise reason I decided to give it up. It was insufficiently secure to guarantee the safety of my girls. Something with a little more heft was called for, and I'm glad I made the switch.

OOh this gives me ideas. You could build the run like this, using pvc and just strong plastic netting--then add electricity to the outside!. Say one line at bottom and one at the top. That way it could be large and portable, yet secure from predators, then just stake it down in a couple of places. Has anyone done something like this? More for just a movable tractor rather than a fixed run?

ETA glue the joints together, it is really easy to work with. IMO drilling would be a pain, and make the pipe more likely to break. I like the idea of zipties, especially if hardware cloth is continuous
