Anyone have red leghorns?

I included some red leghorns with my chick order just because I thought they'd be different from the brown ones and white ones I've had before. But these red ones aren't what I expected. I cant find a lot of info about red leghorns in particular. I figured they'd be about the same as brown leghorns or the white ones I've had. They seem a little puny-er. Small, tending to get pasty butt, growing slow, slow feathering out compared to the other breeds of chicks I have in there with them. :/ They seem active and healthy otherwise. Pasty butt did go away with a little oatmeal, grit, and some apple cider vinegar in their water. Also, I expected solid red, but their wing feathers are more speckledy looking so far. My other 26 chicks are thriving thank goodness (GL wyandottes, speckled sussex, EEs, naked necks, and black minorcas)! I get a kick out of watching them racing around flapping their wings.

I have 2 red leghorn chicks in the coop with my others. They are the smallest of my flock and did have some trouble with PB for about a week.. but it seems to have cleared up on its own. Its gone from what I can tell. But yes, they are rather small compared to the other chicks. Not quite sure what that's about. They haven't feathered out too much yet either. Yet my other chicks all have feathered out a good deal except my Delware hen. The Jersey Giant and the Blue Andy chicks rule the roost, that's for sure.

Thanks for the answer, I hadn't seen anyone else with red leghorns at all! Mine are now a little over 2 months old. 2 out of 5 of the red leghorns died, seems like they were all just puny when they were little! Now, they're actually a pretty solid dark red, and the size of any other leghorn. The ones I have left are as healthy as the rest, so it worked out. I doubt I'd order any again just because of how puny they started out... hopefully, they will lay well though!

Mine are around 8-9 weeks now, they're still small but they're fiesty! They're beautiful birds though.

Yes, I can get a picture of them tomorrow. They've actually started laying in just the last couple days (they hatched May 29). They've turned out to be pretty little hens. They're a pretty rusty red with white earlobes, and the size of a white or brown leghorn. And don't eat nearly as much as my other big round hens.

That's exactly what my RL s are like from Murray mcmurray . Two if the three died but the one that lived is so small
