Anyone have Speckled Sussex from Cackle? If you do, egg issues? My girls have always tended to lay strange eggs. Thinner shells (If I find broken ones, it's theirs), the shells all have the "sandpaper" calcium bumps on the pointy end, and now they've lost their pigmentation.

I have 7 SS, 6 California Whites and 5 Easter Eggers. I feed layer feed and provide oyster shells. The Cali's and EEs are laying good eggs, strong shells. (I also have 6 female Guineas and 3 males --the hens are laying nice eggs too --when I can find them

).

I'm leaning toward stress, I suppose, because there is no illness in my flock. The male guineas can be mean, some of the SS are lower in the pecking order. But I just don't see much bullying in a way that would have them so stressed out. My original 3 are 15 months old (only one of them laid the crappier eggs in the beginning), the newer 4 are 10 months old and never really laid anything too impressive.

It leaves me wondering if the breeding stock at Cackle could use a rework. If bad genetics are at play.

Well I just posted about this with my Sussex. I have 2 that are 2 years old. If you check out my post I have a picture of their eggs. Mine are from Meyer's hatchery and they are both doing the same thing. They were fine for a year, now, every egg is like that
