OK, I saw a picture of these fellows and I must say they crack me up in the photo. something about their funky hairdo ya know? its like a messy hair day that just makes me chuckle...

Im thinking one day getting one just for the fun of it because I know they'd make me smile [IMG]

If you have any, how do you like them?

I have 3 chicks supposedly all pullets from a feed store that got them from Ideal Poultry.

Right now they are close to 3-4 weeks and are very tiny chicks... So far they are all getting the mohawk feathers and one is getting some really nice spangling all ready!

I have no experience with them as adults but from what I have been told they aren't as flighty as Leghorns but they can't stand confinement.

    Hope that helps,

Mine has no problem with confinement of a coop and small run. In cages, that would be a different matter.

Mine are not tiny, they are about the same size for a Hamburg chick and grow up to be good sized birds.

I love mine and I have gotten some from Ideal, some from Julie Gabbard and some from CarlaOk's. They are all beautiful but had to cull HEAVY due to their Polish heads and wrong spangling patterns. It is a new breed but an old importation here in the US. Spitz have been around since 1950's and its alot of work needed to be improved.

Get some, you wont be sorry!

She went out of her way for me and helped me tremendously... I will order from them every year from now on............. My friends do too......

I heard they are a bit flightier but are somewhat docile with training. Our pullet is one of the more anti-social so far but I'm hoping to change that. I'm also prepared to clip wings when the time comes. [IMG] Spitzs are supposed to be fond of roosting in trees.

I ordered two pullets and a cockerel from My Pet Chicken so my little ones are approx 4 weeks old. I really enjoy them. They are starting to show the spangles. Mine are quite friendly and enjoy interaction with people without flipping out. Laid back group [IMG]
