Anyone have their coop inside of a large run? Pics?

not necessarily ... we are putting our coop inside of our run but have raised the coop 20" off the ground so they can roam underneath the coop as well.

Just make sure you can reach anywhere the chickens can get to.

Speaking as a person who was only able to access floor eggs under the coop by sending in a child with a hoe.

Having trouble finding photos of this, curious if anyone has a free-standing coop inside of their run. With the space we've chosen for our coop and side of the run, coop on the outside would eat up a bit of space, so debating putting it inside. Would love to see yours if you've done this!

The main thing I'm uncertain on is best way to do access to the coop from the outside of the run. If I have the coop flush with the side of the run and build around it, that'd give me the main coop door access so I don't have to enter the run to access them or clean. I don't care about the nest box access from in or out, we have very few layers.

Two of my coop walls are outside the run and two are inside. The main coop door gives me access to the coop and laying boxes and the chicken door that gives them access to the run is on an inside wall. I can latch the chicken door while they're in the run and do anything I need to do in the coop without them in the way or trying to get out. We're talking about relocating the laying boxes to the other outside wall so that I can collect eggs without going into the coop, which would be ok when I'm wearing work shoes and not chicken boots. I will also have access to the laying boxes inside so that I can clean them. I like being able to access the run by a different door so I can throw table scraps and clean in there before opening their door for the day. We have our coop included in the run, wholly enclosed top to bottom like an aviary. Our run is about 200 sqft, and the coop is approximately 32 sqft. The run includes rocks and trees that were already there, and we built around them. We plan to extend the run and build a second coop or add to the existing coop for more chickens. We currently have 11 chickens, and I'm getting a few more this year.

A coop inside the run reduces the square footage of the run.

Not if you have an elevated coop like mine, still leaves the floor space. Not great to have to clean or capture a bird under it, but... We call it 'The Chicken Palace', lol. These are from when it was being built by the Hubs 5 years ago, it has enough room for 25 heavy breed chickens. You could have a walk in coop, just put an exterior door in one of the outside walls.

Probably need to fix the overhang at some point, but I did it myself and learned a lot!
