Im a Newbie here looking to learn hands-on, I have a 3 yo and 1 yo. We just bought our first Silkies today, but I live for the farm life one day, just looking for some farms we could come help out on and learn the tricks!

Plenty of folks in the Alachua/Marion county and surrounding areas on the board.

But bio-security needs being what they are there may not be a lot of folks willing to let strangers come work around their birds.

I can however suggest an alterative.

This is Cmom's list of upcoming Florida shows and swaps. There are a number coming up in the Ocala area in the near future. Go to as many as you can and don't be afraid to ask questions (when someone isn't in the act of dealing with a customer, of course). Folks are generally willing to help a newcomer out.

I completely understand that. We are looking for more of a farm with a little bit of everything.
(As we plan to eventually have a farm)
I was at the Dunnellon swap today and got someones info and I have misplaced it.
Im so bummed out!

They were going to let us come out as much as we wanted to help with their cattle and bottle feed the babies.

I learn better by actually seeing and doing and having someone guide me. I wouldnt bring my family along and put them in danger of any sort, I would hope to meet them in person first at a swap and then go from there

We are in Dunnellon. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. Mr. Hagan is correct about swap being a good place to learn and make new contacts. There are several swaps over the next few months.
