Anyone in Wisconsin?

Hello! We are located in NW WI - near Spooner. My first time raising chickens - I have 12, 12 week olds and just discovered that I need to rename my chicken "Betty" to "Bob" ... Welcome!
oh yeah you are wayyy up there, LOL. Ive only been in WI 3 years, came out from Washington state where I had 15 birds for a number of years. I got 6 chicks early spring and they should be laying real soon. I Have had the "Betty turned Bob"issue before. Can you keep him? I am in an area that is hens only.

@LJ33 Yep - learned the hard way that we are a "Zone 2" (we have a home in Prior Lake MN and that's a Zone 3 / 4 ) so I've lost several plants over the years being that it's too cold up here in the winter for them to survive. Staying up here the entire summer/fall while things remain crazy in the cities. I'm very sad Betty is a Bob (and I feel bad that I feel sad). S/he is a beautiful Jersey Giant and I suspected things going not-my-way several weeks ago when s/he started getting a red comb and wattles waaaaaaay before the others. I checked with the hatchery I ordered from and they insisted it was a pullet and to check back at week 18. Well, yesterday was week 12 and when s/he crowed at 5 a.m., I just knew. We are on 26 acres of property but across the road from us are lake homes and so we are considered Residential and roo's are not allowed (but constantly barking dogs are!?!???!) so I'm going to try a Rooster Collar and see what that does. I feel like I have to try. Otherwise I do have a neighbor down the road a bit who said she'd take him.

Sorry Betty is a Bob. My friend got a chick years ago and named it Tiffany. After a few weeks she discovered it was a Toby instead.:idunno. The name stuck though and it answered to Tiffany.
Problem was it was a feed store chick, and one major health concern after another. After that she got what she wanted off BYC breeders.
